Kimolos not only has beautiful beaches, unique cuisine, and hospitable residents, but also a special day on October 5, when Saint Methodia is celebrated. It is a day of celebration dedicated to the Saint of Kimolos, and a large number of permanent residents and people living in different places return to celebrate it.
A few words about its history:
Osia Methodia was the third child of eight siblings, born in Kimolia and baptized Eirini. She chose to spend the rest of her life in seclusion after the death of her husband in her cell, which still stands today inside the castle known as “Stiadi.” She was truly a “recluse,” as the only reasons she left her cell were to attend the divine liturgy.
